Celebrate the Chinese New Year!

Any excuse to celebrate 2017 all over again is a good enough excuse for me! So even though the Chinese celebrate a month later than us, we are still very excited to embrace the Chinese New Year with delicious dim sum and festive feasts! Here are some of our favourite places to dine for this annual Chinese festival that is just around the corner.

Opium

Perched in the heart of Chinatown itself at Gerrard Street, It is no surprise that Opium is holding a weeklong celebration for CNY. Try out the customized cocktail menu, fortune telling, close-up magic performances and a red envelope for every guest featuring prizes ranging from a free beer to a £100 bar tab. Will red be the colour of good fortune for you?

The Jade Door, 15-16 Gerrard St, London W1D 6JE

The Chinese Cricket Club

Enjoy a banquet of Cantonese dim sum and Sichuan speciality dishes at The Chinese Cricket Cub this CYN. Go for the 3 course feast for only £35 and you will also get to experience the traditional a lion dance performance!

Crowne Plaza London – The City, 19 New Bridge Street, London EC4V 6DB

Chai Wu at Harrods
The acclaimed chefs at Chai Wu have put together a menu that can be enjoyed through to the end of January that incorporates both famous traditional and contemporary Chinese dishes. We love the wagyu beef in a red wine and black pepper sauce, and For dessert guests can choose from either mandarin sorbet or papaya, snow fungus and red date Surround yourself at Chai Wu by the five elements of Chinese philosophy; wood, metal, water, earth and fire for total Fueg Sui!

87-135 Brompton Rd, Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7XL

Yauatcha

Prepare to be blown away by the CNY offering at Yauatcha. The special menu running until 11th February includes a red dim sum dish of truffled crab dumplings, a ‘Red Moutai’ cocktail made with the Chinese spirit baijiu, and who couldn’t leave one of Londons most renowned Asian eateries without something for the patisserie? It must be the red petits gateaux to finish!

15-17 Broadwick St, Soho, London W1F 0DL

Hutong at The Shard

Hutong at The Shard are serving a four-course feast for CNY (including a raw seafood salad with sweet plum sauce and Shanghai wonton in chicken broth) called the Double Happiness Meal (and it is defiantly going to make us very happy!). Also at the event on January 28th there will be Chinese calligrapher available to provide you with personalised mementos. All from the 33rd floor!
