Botanical Indian restaurant Flora Indica is bringing contemporary Indian cuisine to the Old Brompton Road. With two spanning cocktail bars, the restaurant offers a selection of experimental drinks inspired by the sprawling gardens on India.

But it is the food that really puts this restaurant on the map! Flora Indica takes immense pride in the exotic flavours and seasonal ingredients of India, which is obvious in the excellent quality of food in this South West eatery.

From the a la Carte menu, start your meal with the zesty Chicken Tikka, which packs a punch with chilly coriander seasoning. The fish options we tried were similarly flavourful, juicy Tawa Prawns were bedded on a flaky puff pastry, while the salmon is Scottish sourced and served with a classic dill yogurt and tamarin.

It doesn’t get much better than a creamy butter chicken in my opinion, and Flora Indica did not disappoint! The tandoori roast chicken was incredibly succulent! We also went for the Gol Mirch ka Gosht, a melt in the mouth slow cooked lamb dish served with tamarind, crushed peppercorn & curry leaves.

Finish the meal off with the Cardamom spiced chocolate Mousse with gooseberries & chocolate mint, a beautiful twist on Indian and British flavours, or the sweet and sticky caramelised fig.

Wash it all down with one of the many exciting cocktails on offer, all infused with classic British flavours such as sage and rosemary, while also paying homage to traditional Indian spices such as bay leaf, cardamom and coriander. I would recommend the Meena Mist myself! A Vanilla Vodka and Koko Kanu cocktail with zesty citrus notes.
