REVIEW: Cinnamon Kitchen Battersea

What?

The restaurant is a relaxed all-day dining concept. Like its sister restaurants in Devonshire Square and Oxford Westgate, the restaurant specialises in modern-Indian cuisine with British influences using innovative cooking techniques. The restaurant is open every day for lunch and dinner as well as cocktails and light bites.

The vibes?

The brick ceilings are a reminder of the old archways which Cinnamon is based within, with wooden wall paneling and furnishings complimenting the simple but elegant decor.

The bar stands out slightly utilising marble and copper themes to highlight, but the center piece is the Private space hanging from the ceiling, which gives privacy whilst also not removing the guests from the hustle and bustle of the ground floor of Cinnamon.

Another highlight is the Chef’s table which stretches round the rear of the restaurant, giving insight into the chefs as they prepare your meal directly in front of you.

What we ate?

To start we had Tandoori Chicken breast and Char-grilled Pork Ribs. The pork ribs were a highlight, sweet, sticky and smokey, perfectly char-grilled making the meat just fall off the bone. The tandoori chicken was tender and balanced, not overly spiced for a tandoori.

To follow we had Char grilled Pollock and Laal Maas. The Laal Maas was a fiery lamb curry which has a definite kick after, although not too fiery. The char-grilled pollock was flaky and not too oily and served with a melon chutney and pickling spices, a light dish, very delicate and easy on the palette for those spice adverse.

For Dessert we had Lassi Panna Cota and Sticky Ginger pudding. The Lassi Panna Cota is creamy and fresh, with the mango mint salad, a great way to relieve any lingering heat from the mains! The sticky ginger pudding was soft, warm and the ginger wasn’t overpowering, served with Garam Masala Ice cream, creating a unique and tasty take on sticky toffee pudding.

Our thoughts

Cinnamon Kitchen is a welcome addition to the cinnamon collection and the new space is fantastic, with the promise of outdoor seating being very appealing for the upcoming months, if you are in Battersea you definitely wont regret popping in.
