REVIEW: The One Tun

What?

Contemporary comfort, in a prime London location, with historic Dickensian roots – come and discover The One Tun pub and rooms in the heart of Farringdon. An atmospheric venue with a buzzing bar, pan-Asian restaurant and eight individually and thoughtfully designed boutique rooms right above the pub, The One Tun is a unique gem of a city bolthole set amongst the diamond dealers of Hatton Garden.

Where?

Address:   125 Saffron Hill, London EC1N 8QS

The vibes?

With a classic pub feel, with wooden paneling and a mix of informal and formal seating areas and a range of drinks on draught, a great place to enjoy after work drinks with a lively atmosphere due to its close proximity to Farringdon Tube station.

The rooms?

The rooms are done in boutique style and fit nicely with the general decor of the Pub, furnished with a desk , King size bed and amenities such as hair-dryer and Nespresso machine. Also with an elegantly decorated en-suite, with a full bath and waterfall shower. The bed’s themselves are incredibly comfortable, with European King Size Posturepedic Beds included in each room, so no chance of a sore back, so you can rest easy.

The food?

To start we shared the Crispy Platter, which included chili salt squid, chicken gyoza and duck and vegetable spring rolls. The chili salt squid was a real treat, a mix of sweet, salt and heat with a crisp coating proved a real favorite.

For Mains we shared the Asian spare ribs and the Duck pancakes, two classics and pulled off well, the ribs were sticky but not too firm. The duck had a juicy texture and the pancakes were soft and delicate and the sauce was flavorful.

For Drinks we enjoyed the selection of Beers the had on tap, as you should in any pub, but they also have a great selection of wine and cocktails, so you can have whatever you fancy.

Our Thoughts:

With great rooms to stay in, a pan-Asian restaurant, a great bar with a large selection of drinks, The One tun encompasses all you could want from a gastro-pub and Hotel based in the heart of Farringdon, great for after works drinks with Live sports being shown (great for the World cup) and a great place to stay in central London if you want to avoid stuffy hotel rooms but still want a luxury vibe.
