Laura has spent the last 15 years focused in mainly Media but also the Travel and Oil & Gas industry. Her experience spans TV companys’, newspapers, events/travel and research in oil and gas. Currently EA to a CIO within Technology. Studied for the LCCI, RSA’s recently acquired BSL L1&2 and currently studying BSL 3-5

How did you first become a Personal Assistant?

Was happily temping and people just wanted to keep me, decided to make good in this field

What’s the best part about your job?

Talking to everyone – low to high ranked colleagues and stakeholders

And the worst?

Expenses!!!!!!!

Describe a typical day; what work does it entail, what hours do you work, what problems do you face?

Not typical! changeable, clearing out diaries, putting meetings back in, arranging product launches, setting up overseas calls and coffee catch ups down the road – impromptu meetings I feel my boss requires….buying flowers/gifts for colleagues – I work from home 1 or 2 days a week which I have my productive work days, the other days are the same but with colleague interaction of which hours pretty much stay the same as you should be able to do most of you job in the said contracted hours.

If I wanted to be a PA, what experience would you suggest I get?

A fast typing speed, then everything else is so much more doable11What’s one of the most difficult situations you’ve faced whilst working?Too many to count1

How do you find a healthy work/life balance?

Very Good – Very lucky to have a commute to the office which is under 1hour and options to work from home
