REVIEW Buns and Buns

The restaurant, situated inside London’s famous Covent Garden Piazza Building is a convenient a short walk from Covent Garden tube station.

Although situated among the hustle and bustle of London’s West-End, Buns and Buns atmosphere is pleasurable, situated within a glass walled container you are able to relax, enjoy and watch the London life pass you by. We were entertained throughout the night by live music from buskers and merry people enjoying what the night might bring.

On arrival we ordered a couple of cocktails, I had a “Watermelon Spritzer” which was so delicious and refreshing- just what I needed after a hot day in London.
My friend ordered the “Lychee Martini” which was equally refreshing but interesting with the Lychee twist.

After discussing the menu with a waiter we allowed him to choose a selection of food and surprise us with what he ordered.
The spread was incredible, the table filled with so many colours, smells and flavours.

We started with the “Mac Bun” which was an innovative take on a regular cheese-burger. This was followed by “Truffle &Wild mushrooms” Bun. These flavours are a personal favourite of mine and it was executed
perfectly.

We then tucked into the seafood section of the menu, devouring the “Half grilled native lobster” which was simply flavoured with lemon. The “Clams & Mussels” in a creamy white wine sauce with the added punch of chilli, garlic, parsley and freshened with lime were mouth watering.
My personal favourite (although regrettably not photographed) was the “Lobster Brioche Roll” this is not something I would normally order but it was an incredible pairing, with the added touch of the bun being toasted.

The “Organic Rotisserie Chicken” was next the chicken was moist and flavoursome with the skin crispy and salty.

We finished the meal off with “Corn Fritters” and the “Truffle Burrata.”
The Corn Fritters were my guests favourite claiming that the were ‘so moreish’ and although completely stuffed could not stop eating them. This was accompanied by the Truffle Burrate: Plum, cherry and datterini tomatos, radish, shaved truffle & sourdough. This salad was very delicious, the mozzarella clearly fresh was so creamy and the range in tomatoes were colourful and juicy. There is no need to mention the flavours that truffle evokes.

We finished the meal off with another round of cocktails. I had the “Chai Spice Mule” which was creamy but packed a welcomed punch with the ginger. My friend ordered the Southern Peach, this was her first taste of Whiskey and she definitely wanted more after this!

Buns and Buns staff are so welcoming, accommodating and no need was too great. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening and hope to go again very soon!

I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family, it is suitable for a lot of occasions and with the potential for semi-private dinning for a max of 40 people.
