REVIEW: Gilbey’s Eton

Based in the beautiful historic town of Eton in Berkshire is a restaurant, bar and townhouse called Gilbey’s. This little townhouse boasts bundles of character with seating to dine on the high street or in the secret garden! A stones throw from the river and a short walk to Windsor castle makes this townhouse the perfect getaway stay for a classic British weekend! With plenty of bars and restaurants based along the river bank, Eton is the ideal location this summer for a staycation.

The decor is warm and inviting. It being bistro in style, with a couple of tables out side on the street giving the place a rather European ambience.
The food style is best described as ‘Modern British’ with French influences.

To start we had DUCK LIVER PÂTÉ & PURPLE GOOSEBERRY COMPOTE hazelnuts, Sauternes-soaked golden raisins, toasted brioche CHORIZO & MANCHEGO CROQUETAS, PRAWN & LIME RILLETTE baby squid, sweet pepper & tomato piperrada. The presentation of both plates were impeccable and the flavours equally responded well to each other.
