Bancone has been making waves on the dining scene ever since it opened in Covent Garden back in 2018, and a placement on Michelin’s 2020 Bib Gourmand list no doubt increased its popularity further still.
Michelin-starred chef Claudio Melis has been brought in as culinary director at this 4,000 square foot restaurant, working with head chef Stefano Cilia to create grills and joints as well as the now famous pasta.
Everyday favourites like the ‘silk handkerchiefs with walnut butter and confit egg yolk’ are on the menu alongside monthly-changing grilled specials like suckling pig or seasonal fish. Desserts include ‘Amaresso Martini’, putting a killer twist on the classic Espresso Martini.
Seating is at ‘banconi’ (counters) for around 90 diners and there’s a sizeable basement downstairs complete with cocktail bar plus private dining for around 12 or 16 people, with the option to hire the whole space.
