Throughout the lockdown the Belgravia bakery established a community support initiative (donating over 30,000 meals) while not closing for a single day to provide cakes and bakes alongside launching pasta-at-home kits and bread service to their customers.
Following the lift of industry restrictions Dominique Ansel and his team have chosen to mark this special day by launching the limited edition run of the summertime treat made with slices of juicy ripe watermelon filled-to-order with refreshing homemade watermelon soft-serve and chocolate “seeds” to finish.
The bakery will work their way through several tonnes of ripe and juicy Italian watermelons and make tens of thousands of tiny hand-cut dark chocolate “seeds” for the limited edition run of the colourful soft serve that has seen hundreds of millions of views online and will be available from midday on July 4th until August 31st priced from £6.50.
“The whole team takes great care in making it all from scratch – from what seems like hundreds of watermelons being delivered each week to slicing them fresh, juicing the fruit to make the soft serve, tempering dark chocolate and hand-cutting thousands of tiny little seeds. The taste is of pure fresh fruit and summertime.” says Chef Dominique Ansel.
