The 100-cover hotspot made its way over to London in 2019, settling in a former art gallery on Dover Street for its debut UK location. IT is a multi-faceted venue, offering a bar, restaurant, and private-dining options, as well as doubling up as a gallery space for young emerging artists. The chic interiors at this Mayfair haunt leave you under no illusion that you’re dining in London’s most exclusive postcode. Enveloping velvet chairs, welcoming marble tables, gilded lamps and statement mirrors make up the vibrant dining room, which is overlooked by a busy open kitchen and a raw fish counter.
With additional locations in Porto Cervo, Ibiza and Milan (awarded a Michelin star seven months after opening), and two new openings already this year (Tulum and soon to be Mykonos), the IT restaurant group was founded by Alessio Matrone with a vision to create destination fine-dining synonymous with the gastronomic excellence of southern Italy and the vibrancy of the Balearic Islands.
With Neopolitan head-chef Giacamo Amato at the helm, the kitchen is overseen by consultant chef Nino di Costanzo, the “Chef Artist” who’s two Michelin star restaurant Daní Maison was recently named among the “10 coolest restaurants in the world” by Forbes. Nino’s consultancy represents a new culinary direction for IT since his take-over in December 2020. His dishes are a dance of taste and discipline, learned from two of his teachers Gualtiero Marchesi and Gaetano Trovano, and Juan Marì Arzak, whose Basque hints are still present in some of Nino’s most colourful dishes.
Set across two floors of a former art gallery, IT offers a dynamic fusion of fine dining and daily music sets from international DJs, making it one of Mayfair’s most dynamic hangouts. Adjacent to the welcoming bar and restaurant, IT offers a glamorous private dining area featuring an elegant skylight within an intimate space. An exclusive upstairs lounge area (also available for private hire) boasts its own bar and is ideal for private dining, drinking, and dancing whilst allowing guests to switch off completely from technology — a theme that is reflected by the room’s specially curated ‘offline’ collection of paintings by award-winning artist Rex Remington.
