  • The infamous Big Mamma Group Italian chain have landed in Shoreditch!

The Big Mamma group in Paris have had huge hits with their trattorias and now they’re coming to London with Gloria, taking over a big space in Shoreditch. Expect Italian food in a classic looking space (as well as a hidden 80s-set dining room).

Dining in Paris can be a very different experience to London – and there certainly aren’t as many restaurants with queues outside. But one of the groups that’s changing that is Big Mamma – the people behind La Felicitá and Pink Mamma in Paris, a food hall and a restaurant that are both hugely popular there. And now they’re coming to London with Gloria, taking over the Shoreditch space that used to be Red’s True Barbecue.

The London restaurants is Italian by way of Paris, in a 1950s Capri-inspired main dining room with marble from Carrara and mirrored ceilings. We hear that they’ll be serving up Cacio e Pepe in a parmesan cheese wheel, 10 level lasagne and Profiterole Napolitana – all with ingredients sourced direct from Italy. Here’s what else is on the menu:

    • La vera pasta al tartufo (£20) – fresh papardelle, black Molise truffle, mascarpone, button mushrooms
    • Amatriciana di seppia pasta (£15) – fresh calamari in umido, 5 hours San Marzano tomato sauce, candied guanciale, pecorino, calabrian chilli pepper, parsley
    • Tortellini in brodo (£13) – hand-made tortellini filled with three meats, chicken and coriander broth
    • Puissance 4 pizza (£15) – fior di latte mozzarella, gorgonzola cheese, caciocavallo, ricotta di bufala, white pepper
    • Regina Instagram pizza (£15) – mozza fior di latte, burrata, stracchino cheese, button mushrooms, herb crusted ham, fresh chives
    • Lobster risotto to share (£60) – fresh lobster, San Marzano tomatoes, mussels, crayfish bisque.

And we hear that they’ll have “a secret downstairs 80s inspired dining room open till 2am”.

  • Imperial Treasure

  • Bringing an elevated Chinese dining experience to the capital, Imperial Treasure, one of Asia’s most admired
Chinese restaurant groups, and holder of four Michelin stars, makes its European debut in a stunning Grade II
listed building on St James’s Waterloo Place.

Award-winning restaurateur, Alfred Leung has spent a significant amount of time choosing only the best
seasonal ingredients, sustainably sourced fish and live seafood to serve his customers, including Gillardeau
oysters from France, Iberico pork and A5 Wagyu beef.

A variety of tasting menus offer eight auspicious courses and showcase the inventiveness of the kitchen, whilst
the specialty of the house is Imperial Treasure’s Peking Duck. Matured for an average of 40 days, each duck is
expertly carved at the table with thin sheaves of crispy skin followed by perfectly presented slices of meat, with
just the right ratio of fat and flavour, served in paper thin homemade pancakes. The second course presents a
choice of three dishes including; stir-fried duck with either black bean sauce or ginger and spring onion, or
    fried with salt and pepper.

Signature dishes include caviar on egg white; soft shell crab with soya crumble; crispy Iberico barbecued pork
belly; salt and pepper deep fried eel; and silver cod steamed with chillies. There are ample vegetarian choices
with a tasting menu featuring the likes of braised spinach tofu with mushrooms; deep-fried okra with lotus root
and salted egg yolk; and stir-fried lily bud with lotus root. More adventurous diners should look out for
ingredients like chicken feet, abalone, sea cucumber, dried sea whelk and chilled pig’s shank.
    Exquisite Dim Sum sing with authentic flavours – pop-in for a lunch of all things grilled, baked and steamed;
from snow mountain buns of Iberico char sui pork through to pumpkin dumplings; wagyu beef puffs; and crispy
    lobster beancurd rolls.

Expertly curated by world-renowned wine expert Poh Tiong, the drinks list traverses the globe – discover the
finest Old and New World wines, award-winning reds from China and English sparkling varietals as well as over
22 available by the glass, including a Chateau d’Yquem 1998. All the major champagne houses are presented
including Cristal, Krug, Dom Perignon, Laurent-Perrier, Bollinger, Pol Roger and Deutz alongside smaller
grower producers. The list also features an impressive collection of over 30 Japanese and international rare
whiskies as well as a selection of Asian-inspired classic and contemporary cocktails.

Whilst the menus have been designed for the most discriminating of diners in mind, the interior is fit for an
emperor. Globally renowned designers, Studio Liaigre, have seamlessly blended a French aesthetic with British
    architecture and Chinese cultural references.

The result is a beautiful restaurant that simply exudes sophistication, from the principal dining room with its individual ‘salons’, impressive cocktail bar and wine
tasting room, through to three first floor private dining rooms providing total privacy and exclusivity.

Imperial Treasure Group is recognised for its authentic Chinese food. The Shanghai restaurant has two Michelin
stars, with Singapore and Hong Kong each holding one star. The Group also has restaurants in Guangzhou and
South Korea. These achievements sit alongside more than 50 other industry accolades including Asia’s 50 Best
Restaurants and the World Gourmet Summit Awards of Excellence.
