This Autumn, the Mr Fogg’s collection will expand into East London, as Mrs Fogg ventures afar to found her Maritime Club and Distillery. Inspired by Aouda, Phileas Fogg’s Indian wife in Jules Verne’s classic novel Around the World in 80 Days, Mrs Fogg will serve up exquisite cocktails and dishes, with influences from Aouda’s heritage and her travels. Alongside the Asian inspired dishes such as Kerlan Fried Chicken and Jackfruit Biryani, Mrs Fogg’s will also have a cocktail menu like no other. Discover new taste sensations with the Ta-ta’s MArgarita, a twist on a classic with turmeric-infused Cabrito Blanco tequila, Rinomato Americano Blanco, Chili-infused Honey, Lime, Starfruit & Grapefruit Tonic, and A Mumbai Donkey, a unique blend of Cardamom-infused Russian Standard Vodka, Pear, Parsley and Ginger beer. The bar comes complete with its own gin distillery, where guests can distill their own gin to take home, or take part in gin masterclasses, and is the first project from Charlie Gilkes and Duncan Stirling’s Inception group to open in The City.
Set in the Broadgate Circle, the Mrs Fogg venue will span two floors aboard the Rangoon Steamer, which Aouda, used to travel back to England, bringing with her new flavours and ingredients. On the ground floor, the large bar is surrounded by green foliage and nautical antiques, paying homage to its sea faring roots. Below deck lies the engine room, a secret space for events and live entertainment.

In the heart of trendy Shoreditch, you’ll find Two Lights, a new restaurant designed in a simple style, but with stellar food. Leading the way is head chef, Chase Lovecky, from The Clove Club, which is the UK’s highest entry on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list (currently No. 26). And the food at Two Lights is equally as spectacular. Stepping away from the Modern British food served at The Clove Club, Lovecky is switching things up to serve modern American food. The restaurant is very minimal with simple white walls and comfortable no fuss furniture. Echoes of the former Italian restaurant that used to occupy the space can be seen with the pizza oven in the semi-open kitchen space, which has been retained and is now used to roast meat and make bread for dishes such as the sardine Katsu sandwiches, and a flatbread of ‘mussels & brussels’.
Slightly larger dishes include whole roasted artichoke heads with sunflower seed miso; and grouse sausage with coco beans & figs. Even larger dishes include the grilled short rib with beetroot & pickled walnuts; or whole roasted ray wings with a little dill pickle butter. And if you still are not full, then you can tuck into the dessert menu featuring creamy brown butter ice cream, or a refreshing grape granita with mint & shiso leaf.
